out for a birthday fish in the canoe my brother made with the boys. the day started out so good! but then there was a sliver in cohen's foot and a trip to the hospital and then another hospital (the one i was born at!)and then surgery and the day slipped away into tears and anxiety. lesson: don't go for walks in the woods without shoes!
